Delta Fares

A little confused about Delta's standby policy can you help?

Lets say I'm scheduled for a 5pm flight and I want to get on an earlier 1pm flight. Do I have to let Delta know before 3 hours of the flight which is before 10am or after 10am which will be between 10am and 1pm.

1. If you want to fly standby - your best bet is to tell the airline AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to get on their standby list. It does no good to wait, call and get on the list now and you will have a better chance of getting on the flight.
