Calculating the corresponding delta G and Ecel under standard conditions.?

If the equilibrium constant for a two-electron redox reaction at 298 K is 1.1*10^(-4), calculate the corresponding delta G and Ecel under standard conditions. 1) Express your answer using two significant figures. Answer: Delta G_______________kj 2) Express your answer using two significant figures. Answer: Ecel___________V My answers: 1) 2.3*10^(-4) 2)About 50% sure how to approach it but did not answer. Please Help!

  1. -- i think for number 1.. you need to use this equation: delta G = - RT ln K with the value of T = 298K, K = 1.1*10^(-4) and R = 8.314 J/(mol-K) yikes.. my chem teacher's gonna kill me! hihi. not sure! but try it.. i don't have a calculator here.. convert first the J to kJ. ö -- and then for number 2.. use this equation: E = (0.0592 / n) log K where (in your case) n = 2. because its a 2-electron redox rxn that means 2 electrons are transferred. and K = 1.1*10^(-4). the value 0.0592 above are manipulated already from the value of F (faraday's constant) and R (gas constant) so no worries for that. ahaist! somehow even if its summer i can still recall a bit our lessons. damn i missed school. hope that helps! take care dude.. ö
