Anyone ever have to file a damage claim for baggage on Delta airlines?
Has anyone ever had to file a damage claim for baggage on Delta airlines or any other airline? My bag got trashed inside and out and even though I filed a claim at the airport, I've heard nothing from them. I've called the baggage dept and they told me to call another number. Call that number, call another number. How long did it take for them to process your claim and what was the result? Thx!

- I haven't personally but I used to work at a travel agent and had to help people file claims and it seems to take quite a long before issues like that are resolved. Expect up to two months before you get an offer from the airline. You should claim everything that was in the bag, including the bag itself. They will only reimburse you for the depreciated value of an item. A suit cost you $300 but it's three years old...they'll only reimburse you for what it is worth today. Any money, electrical items, antiques, jewelry, fragile items - they usually won't give you anything for it. They say it shouldn't have been in checked luggage in the first place (I'm assuming it was checked luggage you are talking about) Don't sign anything until you are happy with the amount you are given. You are then agreeing to the settlement and cannot expect anything else. Stand your ground and good luck!
