Delta Fares

I purchased 2 airline tkt from Delta. I need to chng my travl companion. Delta says no way. Help?

Delta says the tkts. are non-refundable/ non-transferable. I'm not trying to sell the ticket, I just need to take a different person on the trip with me. I know ID will be required before boarding...so I wanted to get the name changed on the e-ticket. My flight leaves in 1 week. I wonder if my chedit card co. that I used to purchace would be any help?

  1. You may be out of luck. Depending on the fare codes you agreed to when you booked the ticket, it may very well be non-transferrable. This is very common when using third parties like Priceline, Travelocity, etc to buy your tickets. Your only solution may be for the person whose name is on the ticket to trade the ticket for a flight they really can go on (usually a fee for this and can be up to a year in advance) and to purchase a brand new ticket for your companion. If you did purchase a restricted ticket (and it sounds like you did) your credit card company will be of little help because you did in fact get what you paid for--- a ticket for Jane Doe to fly on the airplane. Credit card companies usually will not step in unless there is fraud or failure to deliver what you paid for. Airlines do this in an effort to keep prices down. If every passenger could make changes to their ticket arrangements (companion flier, date, time, etc) without any penalties, then the airlines would have to hire a LOT more customer service staff.
  2. Not with the new homeland security in force this one of its main concerns you will end up flying by your self good luck
