Delta Fares

I own Delta Airline stock. Why do people say that it will be worthless when they come out of bankruptcy?

Should I sell before they come out or am I safe and will it go way up when they come out?

  1. People love to mouth off when they're ignorant of the facts, as is often the case here. Please don't ask here how to handle your personal fortune. God-only-knows what "advice" you'll be given, and if you follow it, and if it fails for you, you have no recourse. I am a stockholder, and I would NEVER consider asking investing questions here. For your sake, ask your investing questions elsewhere. God Bless you.
  2. I concur with Randy.
  3. Ditto
  4. Airlines follow the economy or what is called a cyclical stock. The economy is a very bad indicator of future earnings. i believe over 400 airlines have gone out of business since the opening of the airline industry and American Airlines the most longest lasting airlines are taking a turn for the worst. Many people would agree that a company coming out of bankruptcy wouldn't be a good buy anyways because what would prevent them from having another one in the near future? You should always research your stock and read books on investing before you begin investing. Go to Barnes and Nobles and grab a book on investing then maybe after you got everything you can out of that book you should go back to investing or even better keep reading about investing.
  5. Put simply, the reason the stock will be worthless (close to it) is because 97% of the company is debt-owned--leaving investors with only owning 3% of the company! There are basically no fundamental drivers left in the company to cause fluctuation in the stock price other than pure speculation. Tread carefully.
  6. I suggest you to contact their Investor Relations Department.
  7. I can put you on to someone who can give you the answer as he is a retired airline captain.
