- Analyst concensus is $21.50, however, this totally depends on the price of oil. I purchased Continental when oil prices hit $100, which pushed CAL to very cheap levels. Now that oil prices have weakened some, only $10 or so, I have captured a gain of over 50% on CAL. Right now, with oil prices so high, all airline companies are traded based on the movement of oil prices, as oil prices are the highest expense for airline companies, wage expense is second. Another thing to factor in is the merger talks between the major players, CAL, DAL, UAUA, and NWA. This could dramatically effect the prices of airline companies depending on which ones decide to merge, if any. The real question is, where will oil be trading a year from now? The answer to this question will give you a good idea if airline stocks will be up or down in 52 weeks. Just my thoughts, I hope they helped. Best of luck! Brendan Prewitt Disclosure: I am holding CAL as a hedge against declining oil prices, to limit any losses on my oil related holdings.
