Need assistance on Delta buddy passes to Hawaii?
1. Other than a confirmation#, is there anything else that I need to take to the airport? (reservations were made via travel line). 2. Since flying standby, at what point do I check luggage? How do I get my luggage if I arrive at airport & mu luggage is not there? 3. What are the taxes/fees from ATL-HNL? 4. I am wait-listed for more than 1 flight on the same day, do I need to wait list for multiple flights, or do they keep bumping you to the next avaliable flight? 5. Why didn't I ask the person who gave me the passes?? They get them form their retired family member & have not used them in 2 years since starting a family & so much has chagned w/the program. Thanks for any assistance. (Departure 03/17/08) The person who gave me the passes gets them from his retired family member & they have not used them in 3 years, so a lot has changed with the buddy pass rules.

- I've flown on buddy passes on US Air, and am currently a registered guest with them. I'm sure the policies are similar with Delta. 1. Just your confirmation number and your ID. 2. When you arrive at the airport go to the ticket counter and check your bags. You will receive a gate pass that is just like a boarding pass but without the seat assignment. Most of the time you will either get to your destination with your luggage or after it. If there are no seats available on the first flight, your bags will make it on and will be waiting for you once you arrive at your final destination. If your bags don't arrive, then check with the lost baggage counter. Chances are they are on a later flight. If the airline loses your bags, as a non rev passenger you are NOT entitled to compensation. 3. I'm not sure for Delta, but on US Air it's about $230 ($100 each way + $30 for taxes). 4. If you are unable to get the first flight you are listed on, most of the time the gate agents will list you on the next available flight. You will just roll over until you get on a flight. If you are able to get on the first flight they will cancel your listing for the other flights. I'm guessing that you're going to have to transfer planes and connect in another city. If that's the case, you may not get on your connecting flight, and you'll have to roll over to the next one. Keep in mind that on most airlines people traveling on buddy passes have the lowest boarding priority meaning that all other non rev passengers will get seats before you will. Also remember to be polite to each airline employee you encounter. If you behave poorly the employee whose passes you're flying on can be reprimanded or punished for your bad behavior. Just remember that flying non rev (standby) can be stressful but you're going to Hawaii. If you have to roll over, relax, you'll get there, it just may take a while. Make sure you take things to pass the time such as a portible video game, crossword/soduku puzzles, books, magazines, computer/DVD player. Happy Travels!
- You will need a legitimate photo ID-whether it be a passport-drivers licence-you dont check in till you get to the airport and they tell you there is room on the flight, then you check in your luggage. They keep bumping you till they get you on a flight and will call you over the intercom. Dont forget to pack your shampoo shaving creme razors perfume cologne all in your check in baggage-they are only allowing very exact amounts to be carried on in your carry on.
- Dude...where's the person that gave you this buddy pass anyway?? Didn't they explain any of this to you???? That's the person you should be asking. As an employee of Delta's, they SHOULD know all the rules that apply to buddy pass travel, appropriate attire, all of the above. Check with that person...they would probably have the most accurate answers to your questions. Buddy pass travel differs from airline to airline.
