Delta Fares

Will the price of the flight change back?

WTH. yesterday i checked on websites like delta or expedia for flights from Wichita,KS to Atlanta,GA on June 2nd - June 30th for Roundtrip. And the prices were around $169.00, now when i look today its like around $250! what is up with that, do you think itll go back down? because im gonna be pissed if it made that much of a change in one single day.

  1. Typically, airfares go up for the weekend, since a lot of people do their booking on the weekends. Wait until Wednesday, they will probably be back down again.
  2. It's possible all the fares went up. But it's more likely that the cheapest tickets sold out. Every flight has a groups of fares at different rates. As more tickets are sold, the cheapest fares get sold out and the more expensive fares are the only ones available. There are several fare groups. Booking well in advance could be $200 if the cheap fares haven't been sold out, but booking at the last minute could be $1000 or more for the same seat. It's the way airlines manage automatically adjusting fares based on supply and demand. It also encourages early purchase.
  3. You can also try clearing your cookies on your browser. Sometimes airlines will set it up so they will not offer their lowest price to you again (figuring you must want to go if you keep looking at the price). you could also try using those numbers as a bid for a priceline ticket and see if it goes through.
  4. People seem to have a hard time getting this. Airline ticket prices can (and do!) go up (or down, but more often up) at any moment. Frankly, $250 is a pretty remarkable price in 2009. I'd suggest buying before it's $350 (or $550.)
