Delta Fares

Can I upgrade an NWA flight operated by KLM using Delta Skymiles ?

I've checked the NWA and KLM websites and have not been able to find anything. I tried calling NWA but I cannot get through on their 800-number. I have a B-class ticket which in theory is upgradable but I can only find ways to upgrade using World Perks...

  1. My gut says no. Try calling a travel agent - they can work miracles with upgrades.
  2. Yes you should. They are partners, and accoring to their rules you can use Delta miles to upgrade on NW/KLM. The problem is that the airline makes these things so difficult. Unless you get a helpful agent, you may end up calling each airline two or 3 times. B- class is a high coach fare which I am 95% sure is upgradeable , the only question is if they have "upgrade" seats available. The only people that could determine that would be Northwest. Ussualy the airlines allow only about 10% of their seats to be upgraded so you may be out of luck. I would call NWA first, and check to see if they have seats to upgrade available, if they do.. then you will probably have to call delta to have them transfer them over to NWA.
  3. It depends on your status as a WorldPerks or Skymiles member. If you have gained elite status in either of these two, then there should be no problem. As a general Skymiles member, I just arranged a trip from Marseilles, France to Paris, France using skymiles. I had to call Delta to arrange the award ticket. You might want to do the same thing, as it very well might work.
