Will I have enough time to make a connecting international flight at ATL airport?
I have a 49 min layover, traveling from Orange County, CA to Altanta, GA - then to Barcelona, Spain. Assuming that the first flight is on time, will that be enough time to make the connection? Also, will I need to pick up my luggage and check in again at ATL? I am flying Delta on both flights.

- You won't need to pick up your luggage (it will be checked through), but you're going to have to hussle to make the connection. Factor in ten minutes getting off the plane, ten to twenty minutes to get to the new gate, the ten minutes cutoff to board the new plane, and any flight delays, and it could be really tight.
- In ATL there is a shuttle train that will take you to your next flight. No, you should not have to pick up your luggage..when you checked it in, they should have marked you for international...so they know that you have to get off inATL and connect to your flight to Spain. Have a great time! Good luck!
- I am assuming that you are flying flight 1782 that leaves SNA at 12 pm and arriving ATL at 7:10 pm. Your flight to BCN will depart out of E concourse (more than likely- which is the INT'L concourse). Your flight 0114 to BCN will depart at 8 pm, which gives you 50 minutes to get to the correct gate. Please do not hesitate. Normally Delta will not book you on a connecting flight (especially an international flight) so close together, for the fear that you may not make it on time. Your flight will probably land on A or B concourse. After you land, head to the middle of the concourse for the train service. Take the train to E concourse for your international flight. Hopefully you will have a strong tail wind and you'll get there early. Your bags will be checked all the way through to BCN. So you'll just pick them up in Spain. The flight numbers that I pulled up are for flights within the next day or 2, so I don't know if there is a schedule changed or not, but, I think you will have plenty time. I worked in ATL for 7 years and I know that I could walk from T concourse to E concourse in about 15 minutes which is the furthest distance to walk at that airport, so the train ride will take you about 7-10 minutes. I hope that you will enjoy your trip to Spain. And I (along with 49,000 other Delta employees) thank you for choosing Delta as your air carrier. I wish I was going with you :)
- I had a 53 min layover in ATL. As long as you flight is on time should be fine. We got to the gate and still had 30mins. The shuttle train really helps getting between concourse we arrived at D and had to get to A. After your luggage is put on the first flight you wont have to bother with it until you arrive at destination. Make sure to pack all valuables on a carry on. The more connections you have the more likely it is that your luggage maybe lost. My luggage arrived in Miami on the plane behind us added another 1hr and 30mins wait at the airport.
