Do I have to recheck in for flight in Toronto. Going Thunder Bay to Toronto via Air Canada. ? then with Delta?

Thunder Bay to Toronto with Air Canada. Then with Delta Airlines from Toronto to Brazil. Delta is a not with Star Alliance. Do I have to retrieve my bag in Toronto then re check in at Delta Airlines? for going to Brazil

1. Yes. Sorry to say but you need to claim your bags and recheck-in all over again. Air Canada doesn't know that Toronto isn't your final destination and has no way to get your bags onto the Delta flight.
