Can I buy an air ticket in Thailand if I am in the USA?
I am a US citizen traveling to India but I really want to go Thailand also. I researched and I am getting cheap tickets on Delta to go to Bangkok. However, if I plan a multi-city trip (Boston-Bangkok-Delhi-Boston) the fare is outrageously higher than buying a Boston-Bangkok-Boston ticket and then buy a separate really cheap ticket on Thai Air for Bangkok-Delhi-Bangkok. I understand that I will need to go through immigration/customs a few times in Thailand but I do not need a visa to Thailand, the State Department tells me, and I do have a visa to India. My questions are: 1. Can I buy a ticket on Thai Air website or through a travel agent for a trip that does not originate in the USA? 2. Will this trip pose any problems with Thailand immigration/customs?

- Yes you can buy your ticket in the USA on it's website very easy. Or you can buy it here in Bangkok. For immigrations you will have no problems. As a US citizen you get 30 days each time you enter Thailand from air transportation. So when you arrive your get 30 days visa exempt and when you return from India your get another 30 days exempt.
- of course you can. i fly Cathay Pacific to Thailand all the time and theyre based in Hong Kong. i always purchase my tickets over the internet. as for the visa ..... its not that you dont need a visa, its that Thailand gives US citizens a 30 day visa on arrival. you get the visa as youre passing through customs in Thailand. customs in Bangkok are a breeze. without question the fastest of any country ive been to counting time from getting off the airplane to walking out the doors of the airport. i think the longest ive ever waited in customs in Thailand was about 25 minutes, and ive been to Thailand a ton of times.
- You will have no problem, it is legal to purchase your ticket on the website.
- I think your plan to fly boston to bankok to delhi to boston is not the best solution. It would probably be cheaper to buy a round trip ticket to Bangkok and while in Bangkok buy a round trip ticket to Delhi. I checked on a one way from Bangkok to Los Angeles and it was $1580 dollars but a round trip was $1340 go figure. For example (because I don't have your itinerary): A R/T from Mar 1 to 31 from BOS to BKK looks like about $1100 on Kayak A R/T from BKK to DEL Mar 11-25 is about $600 US http://www.kayak.com/h/landing?destination=Delhi&kw=Bangkok+to+Delhi&product=airoriginBangkok
- I ran into a guy who had to buy a ticket in Thai to get back to US...he was US citizen coming back home on an emergency basis so his original ticket was useless....They gave him problems buying the ticket in thailand to leave the country....you better contact some people at the thai embassy in the us before you do anything.
