Which airline should I go NYC-LA?
I have done the NYC (Newark, La Guardia, JFK)-LA many times with ''regular'' airlines (Delta, Continental, US Air, American, United). For my upcoming vacation, I want to try a different airline, possibly a ''low cost'' such as JetBlue, Southwest... Which of them offer the BEST quality/price ratio? Any suggestions?

- South West is a pretty good airline. Just don't show up drunk. (Watch " Airline" on Biography" :)
- JetBlue is probably the best quality/price ratio airline despite the troubles it had this past year. The seats are nice and comfortable. The only thing to remember is that JetBlue does not fly into LAX. You will have to fly into John Wayne or Burbank. Southwest is ok, but really is No Frills, but they do fly to LAX. They also usually have pretty good internet specials.
- My two cross coutry favorites are Virgin America and Jetblue. VirginAmerica is a brand new airline and they are very hip and trendy I believe they have mood lighting on their airplanes, like purple lights!. You can personalize your seathead entertainment screen to what you like! From NYC to LAX it's generally about 360 dollars per person (roundtrip) not including taxes and fees. Jetblue is also a good airline. It has tvs on every seathead. It generally flies coast to coast and point to point. It, however, does NOT fly to LAX, but rather it flies to Burbank, California which is a 30 minute drive or so to Los Angeles. It costs, round trip, 377 dollars per person. So if you are willing to drive then it's okay. All in all, they are both good airlines, but for the cheaper and better one, I would go with Virgin America!
- what ever you do DO NOT choose Spirit airlines, i had just flew to Orlando from Detroit and back. both times our flights were delayed due to waiting for other flight attendants who were called at the last minute to join our flights. on the way there after leaving the boarding area and heading to the runway,we were called back and delayed 2 hours and told to stay on the plane, just for those flight attendants who were somewhere at their hotels. on the way back from Orlando we ran into the same bullshit, only it was about 1.5 hours this time. we were all told by the flight attendants who were working(the ones we were waiting for both flights were not on the clock) to write to spirit airlines and express our displeasure. i had lost my hotel reservations so i was upset and decided to call them while i was on vacation, when all they told me was basically sorry about your luck. i had asked them if they would hold the plane for me for 2 hours and of course they replied a stern NO!. i have since written the company 2 complaint letters and to no avail i have yet to receive a response. so please do not choose spirit and spread the word so that no one else gets taken advantage of by these greedy money hungry not giving a shit about their customers douche bags!!!! i will be posting more detailed letters on the web so please if you see them read them and pass them around.
- try Jet blue...their cheap and fly out of NYC JFK....southwest doesn't fly out of NYC
- Delta has 5 non-stops a day out of JFK.
- Soutwest flys out of Islip. Virgin America and Jetblue would be the best choices. I like just flying good old American Airlines though.
