if I book a flight for July, what happens if the airline ends up bankrupt?
I was ready to book a vacation for July and that day I heard that Delta Airlines entered Chapter 11. Also heard that almost every airline either is in chapter 11 or has been recently

- you can lose ur money, cause they claimed bankruptcy
- you will lose out but sometimes they will refund you but its hard to get them to do that cause there broke
- If the airline goes bankrupt then you might lose all of the money you put in to the ticket unless you pay with a credit card then your credit card company will help get some or all of your money back. But if you pay with cash or debit then you have no guarntee of getting anything back
- nans85 is right but i would like to add that sometimes other airlines will honor the other tickets.
- It all depends on the situation. In some cases the airline will refund, give a partial refund or give you a ticket for another airline. It just depends on the situation. Also, there are some insurance companies that will cover this. Depending on what plan you purchase, they may cover this if they go bankrupt. The best thing to do is to contact either the airline directly, or contact the company for your insurance. Hope this helps
- Bankruptcy does not mean an airline is out of business. Nine times out of ten it just means corporate reorganization. All airlines are subject to ups and downs and all the GOOD ones will try to help you fly if your airline actually stops doing that.
