Do they charge more if I change my airplane ticket's date?
I bought my Airplane tickets wirh the Delta Airline trough a Travel Agency, I want to expand my vacations, so I requested a later departure date, they told me that it will be an extra $500 to change the date, is this right?

- Yes, they can do that. It's all subject to change.
- Check directly through Delta. That sounds excessive. The most I've ever spent was $75 to change the return date when I was already at my destination.
- Delta charges you a change fee of $50.00 and whatever the fare difference is. Try booking for a different departure date, it could be alot cheaper. Maybe a day or two before of after you desired date. I just expanded my vacation and to leave on the 7th it would of cost me $381.00, but to leave on the 8th was only the $50.00 change fee since the fare was the same as my original ticket. I hope I've helped you more than I probably confused you!
- Yes, airlines will apply additional charges if you need to change your ticket. Even non-refundable tickets can (usually) be changed, subject to fees. It varies from airline to airline; as I recall, the last time I checked with Continental, it was either $100 or $150. The $500 through the travel agency sounds like they're adding their own surcharge to the airlines' fee. (One little tidbit in dealing with Delta: it's Delta Air Lines, not Delta Airlines. Some of their old-timers still get upset about people running the two words together. It's something you might want to keep in mind if you end up writing a complaint letter to try to get the charges reduced.)
