Check in at Paris Charles de Gaulle?

Does anyone know what the latest time, before departure, is when I can check in for a flight from Charles de Gaulle to Montreal? I am flying Air France with a connection in Montreal to Delta flight to JFK. I believe check in closes 60 minutes before departure. Can anyone confirm or correct this?

  1. Apparently, it varies from flight to flight: "No matter how you check in, be sure to respect the Check-In Deadline for your flight. After this deadline, you can no longer check in. Depending on your destination and departure airport, this deadline varies from 15 to 90 minutes before departure time." Source: http://www.airfrance.ca/CA/en/common/guidevoyageur/aeroport/aeroport_enregistrement.htm Having said that, as a general rule of thumb, I strongly advise against cutting it close if you don't have to. It's better to have a couple hours to kill in an airport, than to run the risk of missing your flight, or finding out upon arriving at the airport that the flight has been overbooked and that your seat is unavailable. The earlier you arrive, the less likely you are to endure such stress and hassle. I'd recommend a couple hours if you can do that. EDIT: Rose, that sounds extreme, though I believe you. Perhaps things have gotten worse since the last time I flew, which was back in November of 2002. 4 hours and you still nearly missed your flight - yikes! My guess is Air France was on strike.
  2. I agree with the other poster - it's best not to cut it close. The last time I went to Paris, I arrived at CDG almost 4 hours before my flight departure time and still nearly missed the plane due to the long lines at check in and at security. Seriously, they were already boarding when I got to the gate.
  3. Check-in for international flights at most airports, including CDG, will open two hours or more before departure. Passengers are advised to be at the airport at least two hours prior to boarding to allow enough time to check-in and get through security and immigration.
  4. I agree with a previous poster, I was recently at Charles de Gaulle a few weeks ago, and I got there about two hours before my check-in deadline. However, between baggage confusion and long lines, I made it to my plane about 2 minutes before the deadline! I would recommend knowing what airline operates your flight. I was waiting in the Air France baggage check line for forty minutes, but when I got to the desk I found that my flight was actually operated by Delta airlines, and I had to run over to a different line and wait there! Other than that, if you get there early, you'll be fine. Good luck! :)
