How long does it take a flight from Boston to New york, calculating check-in, waiting times and so on?

Anybody could tell me how long would it take calculating getting from Boston downtown to Logan airport, checking-in (Delta), how much time in advance you should get to the airport, luggage pick-up at JFK, getting to Manhattan by subway? Thanks p.s Please write only if you have useful informations, not just: 40min from airport to airport. @travelmaster: yep, I'll take megabus to go to Philly and DC, but I just can't stand 4 hours in a bus, it's too long. I should get there 2 hours before the flight? Wow, I supposed 1 hour as in Europe @RJ Of course the megabus trips will be NY-PH and PH-DC, so they will be about 2 hour for trip. Thanks for everything, but I already booked the flight 1 month ago for some 60$, so I can't do much now. The flight will be at 6pm, I'll be in Hemenway St area. By the way delta.com says that you should get there 75min in advance (and check baggages in 30min in advance).

  1. well all domestic flights say you are suppose to checked 2 hours before the flight my guess would be about 3 to 4 hours including the flight... and getting downtown that's why there are so many buses companies from boston to new york its about equal!
  2. Security is very high at airports in the US so you will need to allow about 4 hours. Why don't you go on the train? It would save all that sitting around at airports. You can go from South Street Station in Boston to Penn Street New York (right in the middle of Manhattan) with Amtrak. It takes 4 hours "door to door".
  3. Please check: Tips: a- use flexible dates b- use alternative airports http://www.hotwire.com/ http://www.cheapoair.com/ http://www.kayak.com/ http://www.orbitz.com/ http://www.priceline.com/ http://www.expedia.com/default.asp http://www.farecompare.com/ http://www.bing.com/travel/ http://www.airfarewatchdog.com/ http://www.cheapair.com/
  4. I heard a guy ask a gate agent whether he had time to go to the bathroom before his flight. The gate agent said "sir, I have no idea how long it takes you to use the bathroom!" ^ From where downtown and how you get to Logan (cab, car, T) and time of day affect that time segment significantly. *Assuming you have a tix beforehand, how long the security lines are will affect this time segment. *Arrival/departure conditions, en route atc and weather affect those time segments. The useful information is ... half a day ... approximately! My advise is take a US or DL shuttle to LGA (i.e. avoid JFK)and cab it to the city or as someone else said take the train And, btw, you sound geographically challenged ... a bus trip to Philadelphia or Washington, DC is way longer than one to NYC. Good luck! RJ @flip add'l ... this Northeastern alum understands the $60 so I'll guess the T to Logan. Understand that JFK has a long term runway closure that may delay things and good looking luggage may take longer (to loot [lol]) at JFK. Haven't tried to take public trans from there to the city but I'm told 1+ hours for that. Again, good luck!
  5. It will probably take around 3.5 hours including check in, flying time, and getting your baggage. Check in 2 hours before departure. Have a great trip!
