Delta Fares

I have a puppy dilemma between two breeders, need professional advice ASAP?

I was buying a family puppy. I was writing an article on puppies and cats being bred as designer pets. I eventually started researching deeper and during my inquiries to breeders found two pups I really adored. I was talking with both breeders seeing contracts, seeing if they are reputable, etc... They were both nice and respectable. I was going to go with the male puppy and went as far to pay a holding deposit on him. The breeder removed him from her website and is getting him ready and even sent me videos. I just did the holding not even several hours ago. In comes the other breeder with the black pup. She scheduled a flight, and everything without me paying or confirming anything. She knew my name and telephone based off of our discussions. She scheduled the flight and said since its so soon she will have the pup sent via COD through Delta. She gave me the flight numbers and everything for the pup. I called Delta immediately and low and behold it is real, very real. I am so angry, and upset that this lady paid for the ticket and everything for this puppy. She was really nice, but this is absurd. Now I have a $100 holding on the white pup, the black pup is being flown to me. I am just speechless at the lack of communication that the one breeder has. Now there is some poor 8 week old pup in the mix going to be flown across the country mind you and then what? And then what... I am just disgusted. I need quick advice on how to handle this situation if anyone knows please. The sad thing is both were reputable, 5 star feedback type breeders... No I never signed anything yet for either one of them. So far just the deposit on the one then I was sending the signed agreement back. She won't send the white pup until he is 10 weeks old so that won't be until next week. She is licensed, inspected by the akc, has good reviews etc... this is the white pup. With the black one she is an older lady and I think we communicated wrong. I read over my e-mails I told her I was interested, I'd like to see her contract, I'd be interested in a possible purchase, and how much I loved the look of the dog and her coat. She said she would put the pup as pending for me. I told her ok, I must ask my husband since your pup is considerably more. She was talking to me about the weather and sending me photos in our last communication. Now this morning I get this. I just integrascanned her name and location. She is in her 60's so maybe it was a lapse in communication that created this. I don't know. I never signed or sent in a holding on the black pup. They both know my name and address. When they asked I provided it because I wanted to make myself also genuine to them as well. I still don't think that shows any agreement at all. My husband said he would take both find the one we don't want a home, but he said that he is now questioning the legitimacy and health of the black pup because she could be ill and get the white pup ill. This is a nightmare. I am afraid to contact the white pup breeder because of how absurd this is. I don't want her getting the wrong impression of us.

  1. That is a very bad thing that's happened to you.... The only thing I can suggest is stop the lady from doing it if it's not too late. Talk to her and tell her you do not want the pup. I'm sorry to say that if she is shipping her pups at all, she's not a five star breeder. Has she met you in person? If not, there goes another star.
  2. I don't know what to tell you about the black puppy. I feel so bad for it. It was thrown out by a breeder who only cares about the money and it's destination is a place where it doesn't even have a home. First of all, no reputable breeder would EVER ship their puppy. Refuse to pay her for the black puppy because of her pushy and irresponsible ways. It's going to be traumatic for the poor thing already, and sending it back would be even worse. Would it be possible for you to take both puppies and try to find a home for the one you don't want?
  3. There's something wrong there - get in touch with her and tell her NO - you hadn't decided on that pup and you already put a deposit on another one. Who would do that especially without confirmation and a deposit.
  4. Call the breeder in which you are wanting to buy from (white puppy) tell her that you were looking at another puppy and the breeder assumed the you wanted the dog and schuduled a flight without your approval COD. Ask that she hold on to the puppy that you want along with you deposit untill you figure out how to handle the situation. Call the lady with the black puppy, ask her why she felt she had to schudule a flight with out you knowing. Tell her you had it narrowed down to two puppies her and another and you decided that you wanted to go with the other breeder. Ask her to cancel the flight take off and to adopt the puppy out to someone else....sending a puppy COD is a little werid with a top breeder...I would question that?
  5. Well for one if this lady with the black puppy didn't have an agreement signed then she is not a reputable breeder, im assuming you never put down a deposit for this pup either, with out a deposit that's also saying this lady isn't reputable, I would tell this lady not to fly this puppy out to you because you have found another pup that you did put a deposit down on, she is only making it more expensive for herself...I hope you didn't give her a credit card number..with out that she can't charge anything to you and you didn't sign anything stating you were going to pay right? If you didn't sign anything your in the good.
  6. Well first off no reputable breeder does that. Not one in charge of all their mental faculties anyways. And is there some reason you didn't tell this woman NO while on the phone? You are under no obligation to take this pup. Call this woman back and tell her no way. Simple as that.
  7. How to choose the right pup. Go to the person's home who is selling them, see the parents, the litter, the condition of the dogs, how they are kept, check the temperament of the dogs. Get on the ground with the pups, see which come up to you. The one that barks and jumps on you and bites too much you may want to avoid. The one that sits in the corner and avoids eye contact you probably do not want either. The one that stands and looks at you with his cocked, bright eyes, then trots up to you, sniffs you, then climbs in your lap....that is usually the one. You will also want to have a toy, roll it or drag it on the ground and the pup should be inquisitive and follow it and want to play. Pick the pup up; does it struggle? Does it freeze? Or is it trusting and content? Stand up, clap your hands and call "Pup, pup!" and walk...which one follows you? If you like a pup, you can find out right then and there what the health guarantee is, look at a pedigree, look at vaccination and worming records, sign a contract, pay and take pup home. If you aren't sure you like a pup, you tell the owner "I have to think about it" and walk away. You can't see what you are getting if you are buying online. You can't test a puppy's temperament to find if it is the right one for you if you order online. Buying online is for shoes, rugs, and lamps. There are plenty of pups, too many, all over the place. for a lifetime of companionship, taking the time to look harder and going to see pups in person just isn't inconvenient.
  8. You can contact the lady with the black pup and tell her you have found a puppy that more suits your needs..I don't think much of this breeder since if what you posted is correct she is very irresponsible and assumes way too much. Not a breeder I would ever want to deal with. "She is licensed, inspected by the akc, has good reviews etc... this is the white pup. " Just an FYI Breeders are NOT licensed and inspected by AKC...if this breeder makes this claim she is giving you very incorrect info and is irresponsible. The only time AKC will inspect a kennel is if there has been a complaint or they feel paperwork is in question, etc. Being inspected by AKC is definitely not something to promote. If this breeder is licensed by the USDA that is also not something to promote or brag about since they license commercial breeders...puppy mills. ****If a breeder gets the wrong impression from you because you were honest & above board then they are defiantely NOT a breeder you want to be doing business with******
