Delta Airlines "Credit Card Presentation"?
I'm traveling from IND to JFK from Delta Airlines and my ticket was booked online from my father's credit card. I was going through their policies and I came across this - http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations/plan_flight/online_reservations/about_reservations/index.jsp#cc "If the purchaser is not traveling, they can show us their credit card and ID at an airport ticket counter or another ticket office location, whichever is most convenient." What the hell does that mean? The purchaser has to show the credit card at the airport or otherwise the traveler can't fly?

- This one has me stumped. I traveled more than 150,000 miles last year, most of it on Delta (and Northwest). Our company purchases all our tickets using a different credit card in the name of our company president. I have never had my ticket questioned, and I know that he does not show his credit card and ID at the airport or anywhere else, for that matter. I suggest calling Delta and finding out what they are talking about. It may very well be something they can use to control potential terrorists. Sorry I could not be of more help, but as I said, I have never experienced this sort of security.
- A lot of airlines have that requirement, that policy is there to prevent credit card fraud. If your father isn't able to present the card at a Delta ticket office or airport ticket counter, give Delta a call, there may be an alternative such as faxing a signed copy of the credit card and id to a Delta office which I needed to do with another airline once in the same situation. Also as Delta states, the length of time between the purchase and can circumvent the situation. If the ticket was purchased a short time before the flight, the rule most likely applies. If the ticket was bought well in advance with time for your father to review his credit card statements, the rule may be waived. In either situation, give Delta a call to see what your particular situation is.
- Yes, that is what it means. They have had problems with stolen credit cards being used to purchase airline tickets, so they require the owner of the credit card to appear in person at the airport and show ID to prove that they and not a thief booked the flights.
