Delta Fares

Any updates on European flights?

The Delta site just says nothing. when I call them they are vague or do not answer. We are scheduled to fly to Amsterdam Friday and I am wondering if we will be able to. Anybody know what is going on over there. Sure, I have read ALL news articles but they all are so vague. I would love somebody's input who works for a major airline or who is actually overseas in europe right now. My friends in Amsterdam emailed me this morning that it all looked fine and they had flights going but I am still skeptical because of the new information about some new cloud coming. Any info would be great! thanks. I would like to get more info on holland if anybody has it. When I look on the flights for today and look at the same flight number that I am going to go on Friday (but it is leaving today) I see that it is NOT canceled. So confused.

  1. NO NEWS ON HOLLAND BUT HERES THE IRISH SITUATION. Ads by Google20/04/2010 - 12:53:11 It is now estimated that as many as 30,000 Irish people could be stranded abroad, unable to get home. The Government's Taskforce on Emergency Planning said that thousands of passengers are making their way home and that capacity is available on ferries. Some 1,100 people contacted the crisis response centre established by the Department of Foreign Affairs yesterday. The centre can be contacted on 01 4082999. The Irish Aviation Authority said changes to the size and density of the ash cloud over Ireland would allow it to reopen some airspace. Airlines have been given permission to fly over Ireland but must stick to strict flight paths above 20,500 feet, authorities said. The IAA said Dublin Airport will remain closed for all commercial flights until 7pm tonight but it has given the go-ahead for Shannon Airport to reopen from lunchtime. Cork airport will also remain closed until further assessments are made later today. Aviation chiefs said they will provide updates on flight zones and restrictions at 3.30pm. Meanwhile, the Government Taskforce on Emergency Planning said air quality was not being affected by the ash cloud and falling particles will pose only minimal health risks. “The taskforce were advised by the HSE (Health Service Executive) that advice from the European Centre for Disease Control indicates that the amount of ash likely to come to ground in the coming days is minimal, if any, and impact on health will be equally minimal,” the body said. The taskforce will meet again tomorrow at 10am. Read more: http://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/30000-irish-people-stranded-abroad-454632.html#ixzz0lfLDNgWC
  2. sorry to say but if you're in the US youre' gonna be stuck, the weather here in Europe isn't supposed to improve until Friday. My wife had her flight cancelled for the 2nd time now from Philly to Pisa. I live in Italy, and our airspace is open, and i know that there are intereuropean flights, but for some reason the US doesn't want to fly to europe. Also they are not offering divertive flights (for example fly to Spain, then to Italy), or in your case fly you to Spain and have you take a train.
