Delta Fares

Which is better to fly? United or Delta Airlines?

Hey all. So my trip I am planning has given me these two as the cheapest options. The fare is withing $1 of each other, so price is not an issue. Flight times are also comparable. Have flown neither of these airlines before, I am not sure who to choose. Anyone got ideas?

  1. I would prefer Delta but if you say you had a frequent flier account with Air Canada, then I would select United because you can receive Air Canada frequent flier miles if you go with United as the 2 airlines are in the same alliance.
  2. United Airlines is terrible. They charge $25 minimum for a first bag, and have a smaller definition of "carry on" then Air Canada and Delta. So be sure to add in $50 on the ticket price minimum if you go with United.
  3. I have had both very good and very poor traveling experiences with both of those. While you can generalize about any airline's service, the fact is that the perceived quality of any individual flight depends on the airport ticket agents/gate agents, the specific plane you are on, your seat, the crew, the weather, the airport, the baggage handlers. If any one of those elements is bad, then it can make the entire trip a bad experience (as in - everything about the people, the plane and the flight is perfect - except that your checked bag gets sent to Rochester, MN, when you were going to Rochester, NY - that can spoil the whole thing). If the gate agent is snippy, because you happen to be the 105th person who has asked them the same question that day, then it may not matter that everything else is perfect - it influences your entire impression of that trip. Pick either one.
  4. I personally prefer Delta! I have flown on them hundreds of times, and love them so I would pick them, But you should see what both airlines offer aswell.
  5. Delta by far! I always fly with them.
  6. Delta...they are more on time, "usually" cheaper, and they serve actual snacks on flights
  7. never been on either, but people in my family fly Delta, and for long Haul's, Delta is amazing, in fact anywhere, it is good. United is being less and less used, but the plane is cool-looking
