If a country took hostage of let say 3 American citizens who were on vacation. Would the US send in troops?
Would they send in like a small special force unit to rescue them? Like seals or delta force etc? Like a nation like north Korea or Iran etc.

- It depends on the situation and the current relation with that nation. United States will not send in any military troops if it might bring hostile actions from that nation holding the hostage captive
- if you had three in iran,we have a president who has no spine.it took him 3 days to kill the pirates on that ship when the seals were in position to take them out on day one.he wont rescue them.
- When the forces in Grenada seized an American group of students there in the 80s we sent in the Marines and Rangers to get them out. Course with this administration we would probably just apologize to them and cave into their demands.
- Not with president pu**y pants in office!! LOL!! But yes depending on the circumstances we would send in a unit like someone you mentioned, but it would have to not cause a huge conflict with the opposing force.
- No, not under the current administration. Iran and North Korea both are currently holding US citizens as prisoners for crimes that are, at best, loosely defined, and more apparently, not crimes that exceed stupidly entering the nation. Iran is holding 3 American men who were reportedly hiking along the Iraqi border, in an area where the border is hardly defined and in no way marked. These men were not military, but simply tourists. Were they a bit dumb to be where they were? Sure. Was there malice or bad intent behind any of it? Not that I've been able to find. North Korea is currently holding a US missionary, Robert Park, who entered the country to deliver a letter to Kim Jong Il, asking him to step down, and address human rights concerns. Again, a case of stupidity reaching critical mass, but again, no crime committed as any common law would see it. The current administration has taken no military action in either of these cases. Previous administrations have sent military forces in to rescue prisoners, when it was politically expedient to do so. However, if you get arrested in a foreign nation, DO NOT expect the Green Berets, SEALs, or A Team to come in guns blazing and haul you home. At best, all you'll get on your behalf is a whole bunch of bureaucrats trading hot air.
- No. The United States State Department would get involved first and try to work out some diplomatic solution. The Red Cross or other international humanitarian folks would likely get involved before troops would be allocated. Hope this helps.
