Delta Fares

Trying to find out which airline has the most seating room United Airlines or Delta?

I have a disability where I am unable to bend my left knee. My knee is fused with a metal plate. I can sit in the front seat of a car/drive a car but not the back... Therefor traveling via airplane is a little on the difficult side. I know I can not sit on Delta planes. At least I couldn't sit in just one seat on the last Delta I attempted to fly on. I do well with American Airline planes though some seats are better than others. I do well in Exit lanes except that they don't normally let me sit in them because they need able bodied people sitting in them, just in case. I realize I would probably do fine in Business or First Class but I can't afford to fly either. I am planning a trip to Italy in June and it's a very very long flight. I am trying to go with Virgin Vacations but the only Airline's they are offering me are Delta and United. I don't believe I've ever flown united so I am not sure if they pack you in like Sardines like Delta does. (or at least did on the flight I was on). Advice is appreciated! Thank You! My only other option is KLM Royal Dutch Airlines whom I've never heard of. Anyone know what their seating is like?

  1. All three seem exactly the same to me. I had a knee replacement in Oct 08. I had to cancel my travel plans in Dec 08 because my knee wouldn't bend more than 100 degrees. There wasn't enough room in the seat. I asked Delta for the handicapped seat and they refused to give it to me because they are saved for people with difused limbs (missing). You might try that approach and see if you can do any better than I did. Instead of my trip, my Doctor put me under sedation and broke the scar tissue. Now I have 130 degrees and can function normally. I was able to travel in February and sit in the seat normally. I wish you good luck!
  2. United invented the "pack 'em in like sardines method". Worst airline ever.
  3. It doesn't depend on the airline as much as on the combination of airline , specific aircraft, and the seat location/class of service. Seat guru is a good site for checking this kind of question: http://www.seatguru.com/ It has seating charts for the various aircraft flown by each airline with comments on the sapce and seat ammenities available. Most of the airlines will be cramped in economy. I live in Italy and my US home is in Colorado and usually fly United. The Economy Plus seats aren't bad, but you might want to consider business class.
