Can I transfer miles from Delta to Continental?

Can I transfer my miles from Delta to Continental? Will make a 5,300 miles trip next year, that means I will have 10,600 miles for that single trip, I only need half the miles to get a cheaper flight next time I travel with Continental, so I'd hate to lose my miles... (Delta flights are being cheaper than Continental, thats why Im choosing Delta this time) Thank you.

1. No you can not.
2. You cannot do that unless the airlines merged. Airlines do not allow you to transfer miles from one airline to another because if you could, then you would not be loyal to one airline. That is why airline miles are sometimes called frequent flier miles; the more you fly with that one airline, the more opportunities you can earn for free travel.
3. nope! CO just left Skyteam for Star Alliance...you can't redeem CO on DL anymore, or vice versa
