I reserved a return flight ticket on a domestic United airlines flight. If I miss my departure flight, would ret?
Would they automatically cancel the whole of my booking? My concern is that I don't wanna take the departure flight but I need to take the return flight back so I don't want that part of my journey to get cancelled. Also, I don't wanna pay 150 bucks to cancel the first part of my journey. Does somebody know the policy United follows if I don't show up for the first part (departure) of my reservation? thanks everyone. I had to eventually pay a change fee..

- When you buy an airline ticket you are agreeing to the airlines Contract of Carriage.. It's the formal language that governs your ticket and spells out your rights and responsibilities as well as the airlines rights and responsibilities. Contained in the Contract of Carriage is language that says, very specifically, that you MUST use ALL the segments (of parts) of your ticket and the EXACT order in which they are issued (A to B to C and not B to A to C)... Based on that, if you fail to show up for your first flight/leg of your ticket, the airline will classify you as a no-show and will most likely cancel the remainder of your reservation- in accordance with the Contract of Carriage.. So, when you show up at the second point and attempt to check-in your ticket will come up as "canceled" for no-show at the origin.. Should you wish to get it re-instated to fly, you may be required to pay penalties and charges dependent on the type of ticket you held and the circumstances under which you "missed" your first flight. Since it appears that what you are in essence trying to do is to pay for a round-trip or return fare and use it as a one-way fare only.
- Short answer - miss any leg of your flight and the remainder will be cancelled.....
