Can I do this with my flight reservations?
I have a flight booked for Friday afternoon on United Airlines, but something came up and it would be better if I left Saturday morning. If I pretended that I mixed up my dates and just showed up at the airport on Saturday morning to go standby, would I be penalized by United?

- You would not be penalized....your ticket would be worthless.....you would have to contact the airlines and have it reissued......at a cost.....
- Yes, you would be penalised - the only circumstances under which you MIGHT get them to change your flights for free would be to have had a family or medical emergency. If you just show up the next day they will ask you to pay for another ticket one way, and chances are that it will be an expensive one. Even tickets that don't have a change, if you phone the airline they will normally make a change for you for a small fee - probably easiest to just pay the change charge on the ticket.
- Yes. As far as the airline is concerned, no-show is no-show. They really don't care why. Call now and see what it would cost to change, then decide if it's worth it.
