Delta Fares

Does anyone know what I really got to lose if I sign up for Gold Delta Skymiles Credit Card? I have flier mile?

I want to be sure I am not getting myself into the usual debt trap

  1. I don't know what you mean by "the usual debt trap". This is just a standard American Express card with rewards. If you travel a lot, you may be able to get some benefit from the rewards part. If you don't, then you won't get any benefit and it will be just a standard credit card. One shouldn't pick a credit card just for the rewards. If you would normally use the card anyway and you can get rewards for stuff you would do anyway, then OK. But don't charge stuff just for the rewards.
  2. It's not a credit card, but an American Express charge card. The entire bill needs to be paid in full every month. On top of that there is a stiff annual fee (usually waived the first year) that you must pay. It can be an OK deal if you fly a lot and run a lot of everyday purchases through the card.
