Delta Fares

Should I buy stock in US Airways (LCC) And Delta Air lines (DAL)? Why or why not?

I'm am still new to the stock market.

1. I don't know why ANYONE would ever want to own a public airline. Warren Buffet once had a stake in a major airline (US Air I believe it was) in the late 1980's to early 1990's. He sold out at a big loss and said he didn't understand this business at all. The consistently lose money, have union issues, impacted by higher oil (fuel) costs which so far just this year is up over 50%, and airlines frequently are in bankruptcy or close to bankruptcy. The last thing I would ever own is an airline stock.
